Henry Schein, a healthcare solutions provider for dental and medical offices, has agreed to acquire Acentus, a supplier of homecare medical products in the US.
Acentus specialises in the supply of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs).
The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
The Acentus acquisition follows Henry Schein’s 2021 purchase of Prism Medical Products and its 2023 acquisitions of Shield Healthcare and Mini Pharmacy.
According to Nasdaq-listed Henry Schein, these acquisitions strengthen its commitment to the homecare medical supplies market. The company’s homecare medical products platform now has an annual revenue of about $350m.
Henry Schein board chairman and CEO Stanley Bergman said: “As the delivery of health care in the US is increasingly provided in home-based settings, Henry Schein is strategically expanding our offerings to meet the growing demand.
“We are pleased to announce our acquisition of Acentus, which enhances our ability to deliver CGM products directly to patients’ homes.
“With Acentus, we will strengthen our position nationally in the home medical supply market and better serve our valued customers, including clinics, physician practices, health systems, ambulatory surgery centres, and most importantly, patients and families.”
Acentus, headquartered in Tampa, Florida, has an annual revenue of around $35m.
New York-based Henry Schein expects the transaction to be neutral to its 2024 non-GAAP earnings per share and accretive in subsequent years.
The deal is subject to standard closing conditions and is expected to close in Q1 2025.
Upon closing, Acentus founders Brett Carroll, Todd Cianfrocca, Greg Duvall, and Julio Valdivia will join Henry Schein. They will bring their expertise in the product category and healthcare industry.
Acentus CEO Todd Cianfrocca said: “We are delighted to partner with Henry Schein and further our efforts to provide accessible disposable medical supplies to the thousands of individuals nationwide who rely on these products to manage their chronic conditions.”
Provident Healthcare Partners served as the exclusive financial adviser to Acentus.
