UK-based orthopaedic medical devices manufacturer Osteotec has partnered with Australian 3D-printed spinal implant manufacturer Additive Surgical, to expand into the UK spine sector.
Under the collaboration, Osteotec will exclusively distribute both companies’ novel spinal implant technologies to orthopaedic and neurosurgeons in the UK.
The two companies will engage with top UK surgeons over the coming months to identify specific clinical challenges and address them with customised solutions.
Osteotec said the collaboration will highlight its continued growth and strengthen its position in the orthopaedic and spine medical device industry.
Osteotec national spine sales manager Lisa Watts said: “This partnership is a testament to our dedication to bringing cutting-edge technologies to the UK market.
“By working with Additive Surgical we can offer surgeons innovative, customisable products that improve patient outcomes.
“We are excited to integrate Additive Surgical’s differentiated 3D-printed implants into our product line-up and offer UK surgeons unparalleled solutions for their patients.”
Established in 2020, Additive Surgical is the first Australian company to provide readily available 3D-printed titanium spinal implants.
The company’s portfolio, including its in-house PorOssity technology, builds on years of research and development.
The technology features intricate biomimetic lattices and targeted porosity to promote bone growth, and capabilities previously impossible to achieve using traditional methods.
The Australian spinal implant maker’s unique approach provides surgeons with significant design input, facilitating rapid iteration and personalisation of implant designs.
In addition, Additive Surgical also developed advanced biomimetic lattice structures and agile manufacturing processes that significantly reduce the iterative design-feedback loop.
Additive Surgical CEO and co-founder Gibran Maher said: “Our collaboration with Osteotec is an exciting step forward in our mission to bring cutting-edge spinal implant technology to the global market.
Osteotec’s longstanding reputation and deep connections within the UK medical community make them an ideal partner to introduce our innovative 3D-printed solutions to UK surgeons.”
