EKF Diagnostics, a UK-based diagnostics company, has announced the global launch of Biosen C-Line, an advanced version of its benchtop glucose and lactate analyser.
The advanced analyser, compliant with the new European Union In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR), features a modern colour touch screen and enhanced connectivity.
Biosen C-Line is now compatible with hospital and laboratory IT systems through the EKF Link middleware software solution for healthcare providers. This integration ensures swift and secure availability of patient results to clinicians.
The Biosen C-Line analyser utilises enzymatic sensor technology to measure the levels of glucose and lactate in whole blood, plasma, and serum.
The device can deliver precise results with a variability of less than 3% coefficient of variation (CV), said the company. It operates at a throughput of up to 120 samples per hour, providing results within 20 to 45 seconds.
According to EKF Diagnostics, the analyser can be used in primary and secondary care settings for rapid and accurate glucose analysis for the detection and management of diabetes.
Additionally, the Biosen C-Line provides enhanced accuracy, offering deeper insights that facilitate more effective disease management.
EKF Diagnostics chief product officer Gavin Jones said: “We are excited to introduce our new and updated range of Biosen C-Line glucose and lactate analysers, which address customer demand for advanced connectivity and an enhanced, user-friendly interface.
“Diabetes is a serious and growing global health challenge, with over 420 million people living with the disease around the world.”
As per EKF Diagnostics, Biosen C-Line is useful for sports professionals to measure lactate production during training sessions. The capability offers valuable insights into metabolic responses, endurance capacity, and recovery capabilities, enabling coaches to tailor training strategies for peak athletic performance, said the firm.
The new analyser is also compatible with a middleware solution for healthcare providers for the management of their point-of-care (POC) analysers and data on a single centralised platform.
The platform facilitates remote management of various data types in real-time. This includes patient test results, quality control and calibration results, operator management, and configuration of analysers.
It ensures a fast and secure connection between POC devices and hospital or laboratory IT systems, allowing swift transfer of data from the analyser to the central database for further analysis.
The new Biosen C-Line models feature USB and encrypted ethernet interfaces for enhanced network connectivity.
