Johnson & Johnson MedTech (J&J MedTech), the medical technology company of US drugmaker Johnson & Johnson, launched its VOLT Plating System with variable angle optimised locking technology.

In addition to the optimised locking technology, the system offers an expanded range of plate shapes, lengths, and screw lengths to address different fracture reduction and fixation needs.

The implants are designed with minimised protrusion to reduce the risk of soft tissue irritation.

Also, its colour-coded instruments simplify identification to improve surgical workflow efficiency for operating room staff, said J&J MedTech.

J&J MedTech said the VOLT plating system is an evolution in its fracture management solutions designed to improve stability, enhance performance, and increase efficiency.

The company designed the system with feedback from a team of expert surgeons from around the world and will be offered in both stainless steel and titanium make.

VOLT plating system is engineered with precision threaded locking to provide enhanced construct stability.

Unlike other systems that depend on screw threads to cut into the plates for locking, VOLT uses tightly toleranced screw hole threads to improve plate-to-screw engagement.

Its advanced design is said to provide the stability of the Locking Compression Plating while facilitating flexible variable angles.

J&J MedTech is commercially offering VOLT Mini and Small Fragment Plating Systems after securing the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.

Also, the medical device company is planning to launch its VOLT Distal Radius and VOLT Proximal Humerus Plating Systems in 2025, with additional anatomic plating solutions to follow.
