Restore Robotics has announced that its subsidiary, Iconocare Health, recently filed a 510(k) application with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for remanufacturing Da Vinci Xi 8mm Monopolar Curved Scissors.
The da Vinci Surgical System is the product of US-based Intuitive Surgical.
With the application, Restore Robotics, a surgical robotics company, is aiming to offer remanufactured robotic instruments that lower costs and enhance environmental sustainability.
Restore Robotics CEO Clif Parker said: “With this FDA submission, we’re focused on delivering cost-efficient solutions while maintaining the high standards of performance and quality that our partners rely on.
“Hospitals using our remanufactured Da Vinci Xi 8mm Monopolar Curved Scissors will see significant cost savings, allowing them to better manage their resources.”
Restore Robotics’s remanufactured instruments provide hospitals with significant cost savings over new devices.
By refurbishing original instruments for additional uses, hospitals can optimise their budgets and ensure access to the latest advancements in robotic surgery for their communities.
As part of its environmental commitment, the robotics firm has launched a Da Vinci Xi recycling programme to collect expired surgical instruments from hospitals for potential remanufacturing.
Conducted at its Henderson, Nevada facility, this initiative is expected to reduce medical waste and promote sustainability in the healthcare sector.
Additionally, through its partnership with Encore Medical Device Repair, Restore Robotics delivers remanufactured instruments to hospitals and surgical centres nationwide.
The collaboration enhances access to affordable instruments for the Da Vinci platform.
