Royal Philips has expanded its partnership with digital healthcare solutions provider Sim&Cure to improve innovation in neurovascular therapy solutions.

The collaboration began five years ago and the expanded partnership is expected to strengthen Philips’ position in interventional neuro solutions.

As part of the partnership, Sim&Cure’s Sim&Size software will be integrated into the Philips next-generation Azurion image-guided therapy platform.

Sim&Size software is certified CE mark Class IIa and is 510 (k) cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Philips said the integration will provide healthcare providers with a more seamless and efficient workflow for treating complex brain aneurysms.

Additionally, Philips and Sim&Cure will collaborate on future projects to drive innovation in cathlabs future.

By integrating Sim&Size into Azurion, physicians can simulate device placement, optimise selection, and guide deployment directly within the Azurion platform.

The integration removes the need for separate software and hardware setups, enhancing precision and efficiency in neurovascular procedures.

Sim&Cure CEO Mathieu Sanchez said: “We are excited to deepen our relationship with Philips and expand our joint impact in neurovascular therapy.

“Our combined offering allows clinicians to confidently plan and execute minimally invasive treatments, bringing the best of both companies’ innovations to bear for improved patient care.”

The Dutch healthcare technology firm offers interventional suites and image-guided therapy solutions. Launched in 2017, its Azurion platform is available in over 90 countries.

Earlier this year, Philips introduced the latest version of Azurion: a biplane model designed for neuro interventions. This model offers enhanced 2D and 3D imaging, improved C-arm rotation flexibility, and optimised workflow features to support clinicians in performing complex neurovascular procedures more effectively.

It provides neuro interventionists with a fully integrated solution, combining Philips’ ClarityIQ low-dose imaging with specialised neuro tools and value-added services.

Philips IGT Systems marketing vice president Nicole Hermkens said: “The strengthened collaboration with Sim&Cure allows us to bring the power of simulation and image-guided therapy together in one platform, enhancing physician confidence and improving patient outcomes.

“By integrating Sim&Size into our Azurion platform, we are reducing complexity and variability in neurovascular procedures, ultimately helping to address the growing burden of brain aneurysms.”
