Restore Robotics, through its subsidiary Iconocare Health, has secured 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the remanufacturing of Da Vinci Xi Monopolar Scissors.
This clearance enables the company to provide a cost-efficient and sustainable option for hospitals and surgical centres, offering an alternative to procuring new instruments from the original producers.
In collaboration with Encore Medical Device Repair, Restore Robotics is set to distribute these remanufactured instruments across the US.
Restore Robotics CEO Clif Parker said: “Restore Robotics is deeply committed to helping hospitals reduce the cost of using a surgical robot.
“Our recent clearance is a break-through for robotic instrument re-use as the instrument cleared for remanufacturing is the most used robotic instrument in US hospitals.”
Encore Medical Device Repair has announced it can now supply its clientele with remanufactured Da Vinci Xi Monopolar Scissors in addition to its existing line of Da Vinci Si instruments and pre-owned robotic tools.
The latest FDA approval enhances Encore Medical Device Repair’s robotic instrument offerings, further supporting hospitals and surgical centres in reducing expenditures without compromising on quality or safety.
The partnership between Restore Robotics and Encore Medical Device Repair allows for the availability of Da Vinci Xi remanufactured scissors, with these medical devices accessible immediately through Encore’s distribution network.
Encore Medical Device Repair specialises in device lifecycle management, offering advanced repair services aimed at extending the lifespan of vital healthcare assets and maximising savings.
The Restore Robotics- Encore Medical Device Repair programme provides healthcare facilities with the opportunity to reallocate budget resources to other essential areas by participating in cost-reducing initiatives.
Encore Medical Device Repair president and COO Tom Milano said: “Encore was founded on the idea of instrument stewardship – we need to treat instruments as assets to keep costs down and protect the environment.
“Restore Robotics and Encore’s collaboration on robotic instrumentation is a great win for resource stewardship.”
