US-based medical diagnostics equipment supplier StatLab Medical Products has agreed to acquire Spanish histology equipment maker Especialidades Médicas Myr (Myr).

Based in Tarragona, Spain, Myr supplies high-quality histology equipment for tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining, through an established distributor network.

The acquisition will provide StatLab with a new manufacturing hub and team in Spain and open its new distribution channels in developing regions.

The integration of Myr with its equipment offerings, manufacturing capabilities, and global distributor network will expand its portfolio and international footprint.

Also, Myr’s complementary equipment products diversify and expand its offerings in key European markets with the Diapath and CellPath brands in its portfolio, said StatLab

StatLab CEO Sung-Dae Hong said: “Our partnership with Myr will provide an opportunity to expand into emerging markets and fuel growth through existing channels while investing in their ability to deliver the best products and solutions.

“I’m excited to welcome Paco and the Myr team to StatLab and continue to invest in the strong business they’ve built.”

Myr CEO and founder Paco Ruiz said: “This is an excellent opportunity to expand Myr’s brand and business, and I’m eager for my team to work together with Dae and StatLab to leverage our products and capabilities to empower additional growth.”

Earlier this year, StatLab agreed to acquire Diapath, an Italy-based manufacturer of histology and cytology products and equipment.

Diapath has advanced equipment, manufacturing capabilities, and an established customer base across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America.

Through the acquisition, StatLab aims to expand its market access, unlock significant potential for growth, and enhance its global footprint.
