Florida-based Wellvii and advanced biosensing technology firm B-Secur have entered a partnership to develop an at-home blood pressure (BP)/electrocardiogram (ECG) combination device.
Wellvii has developed the BP Go Rhythm device that records blood pressure from the finger. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared product is designed to replace the traditional NIBP arm cuff.
UK-based B-Secur is a privately held global firm developing artificial intelligence (AI)-powered ECG solutions.
Wellvii CEO Mark Khachaturian said: “The BP Go Rhythm puts cardiac health directly into the hands of patients with a level of comfort, portability, and connectivity that surpasses anything currently available.”
The partnership combines B-Secur’s single-lead ECG with Wellvii’s BP Go to develop the BP Go Rhythm BP/ECG device. The system is intended to advance the at-home blood pressure and heart health monitoring market.
According to Wellvii, the device will increase convenience, comfort, and portability than existing devices. It will also transform ambulatory, remote patient monitoring, and home monitoring.
Furthermore, using Bluetooth and cellular IoT connectivity, the device will offer easy data sharing for enhanced patient care worldwide.
B-Secur chief commercial officer Brian Pitstick said: “This partnership represents a significant step forward in delivering advanced heart health solutions to a broader audience.
“By combining our FDA-cleared ECG technology HeartKey with Wellvii’s innovative BP Go, we’re enabling better, more accessible cardiac monitoring for consumers and health management professionals alike.”
Concurrently, Wellvii announced a study with Todd McMullen at the University of Alberta for rural patient monitoring.
The trial will use Wellvii’s VitalDetect to measure non-invasive blood pressure from the finger. It monitors nine key vital signs, including pulse rate, and temperature.
In early 2023, the vital sign measurement technology developer partnered with software technology company Care Daily to introduce integrated solutions for ageing-in-place experiences.
The collaboration combined Wellvii personal health and wellness devices with Care Daily’s AI Services for senior and chronic care management.
In May, B-Secur collaborated with Galen Data to advance next-generation cardiac health monitoring.
